Crush Analysis – 40 Hour Class
August 16-20
Millersville, Maryland

A 40-hour crush class will be presented the week of August 16th to the 20th 2010 in the Baltimore-Washington area at the Anne Arundel County Police Special Operations Division facility in Millersville.

2010 Combined Annual Conference for Traffic Collision Reconstruction
October 6-8, 2010

Hosted by the Maryland Association of Traffic Accident Investigators, this year’s conference agenda includes 2˝ days, Wednesday through mid-day Friday, of crash testing, lecture presentations and vendor displays focusing on current topics and trends in motor vehicle collision reconstruction. Crash testing at this year’s conference will include underride impacts of passenger type vehicles with a large semi-trailer.

Optional/Additional Training Class and Sessions

On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, as a prelude to the main conference, an optional full day training class on forensic mapping and diagramming will be held. This class, presented by PSFM, promises to provide answers for the novice and advanced practitioner involved in forensic mapping. Attendees can sign-up for this class while registering for the conference. Attendance for this class does require a separate registration fee of $45.00 and includes lunch. Conference Venue

The venue for this year’s conference is the Stowaway Grand Hotel, located on the ocean and Ocean City’s boardwalk at 21st Street. The nightly room rate for conference attendees is $79.00 (+taxes) for the standard room. A limited number of King-Whirlpool Jacuzzi rooms (upper level room with a large Jacuzzi tub) are available for $119.00 (+taxes) per night. Recent Events:

The 2009 Annual Conference, hosted by NAPARS, was held October 7-9, 2009, in Ocean City, MD. The main topic was commercial vehicle crash reconstruction. In addition to a spectacular semi versus pick-up impact, attendees had the opportunity to drive a trailer-trailer combination. Other field exercises included truck skid testing, ECM download documentation, MCSAP inspection protocols and light vehicle to heavy vehicle side swipe impacts.

The 2008 annual conference was held October 15-17 in Atlantic City, NJ. This year's conference featured lateral pole impacts and refined airborne analyses.

The 2007 annual conference was held October 24-26 in Binghamton, NY. Vehicle-to-vehicle crashes focused on the analysis of post-impact rotation. Also conducted were crashes into fixed barriers to evaluate airbag deployment with the high-speed impact left to "robocar".

MdATAI co-sponsored, along with 11 other organizations, the F3T2 conference that was held in Clear Lake, Texas, September 18-21, 2006. The conference featured a day of crash testing and practical field examinations in addition to many excellent presentations. With lots of catered food and networking, no one was hungry or bored.
